Walk. Collect. Transport. Manage. Use. Solve. Live. The creative process parts of the image of a woman carrying water. The body itself appears in the performance as a carrier of water and states. In this working body is recognized the effort to obtain the essential, in a daily activity that, culturally, is often aimed at women and is repeated by her throughout life, for the benefit of the community. Thus, water is the central and conducting material of history, together with the objects necessary to collect, store and use it.

For uma forma quase cilíndrica, I handled sound design using Logic, crafting an audio landscape that mirrored the performance’s subtle and physical gestures. I also created custom, hand-made lighting to match the mood and movements on stage. As an external eye, I provided feedback throughout the process, helping to shape the piece both technically and artistically, ensuring the performance’s emotional depth came through in every aspect.

More complete project information at » https://teresasantos.pt/portfolio/uma-forma-quase-cilindrica/

Photos by Marta Vasconcelos and João Santos

An almost cylindrical form condenses gestures of survival: walking, collecting and carrying water.
