Xai Específic is a collective exploration in a natural environment, initiated by Circ Girona and the Sismògraf festival. For two weeks in the Natural Park of the Volcanic Zone of La Garrotxa, we worked through body, sound and space, sharing processes and intuitions through direct contact with the forest. The project unfolded as an itinerant journey along forest paths, taking shape from the specific conditions of the site.
The artistic group, under the direction of Aram Pou Clavell, was composed of Joan Pallàs Blázquez, Aleix Lidon Baulida, Berta Garriga Plana, Júlia Pluma Plana, Azucena Momo, Álvaro Caballer Revenga and Neus Montané Santó. The costumes were designed by Atena Pou Clavell and production was coordinated by Gemma Roura Font.
From my position, I worked with audio as an organic and permeable material. I recorded sounds from the forest using a Zoom H6 (shotgun microphone), LOM Basic Ucho, Geofon and electromagnetic microphones, collecting subtle textures and hidden vibrations. For sound composition and performance, I used Norns and Ableton Live, creating live music that integrated into the route through autonomous devices, without the need for power outlets.
I also explored the manipulation of natural objects, such as logs and tools used in tree felling, through a juggling practice adapted to the terrain. This work allowed me to deepen the relationship between body, matter and environment, searching for ways to coexist with the landscape in a natural and receptive manner.
Xai Específic has been an opportunity to observe how a group can listen to a space together, allowing themselves to be affected by its shapes, sounds and rhythms, and transforming them into shared actions that respect the balance of the place.
