Aduela
Uma mensagem num barril

Aduela is a circus project by the company Erva Daninha, premiered in the gardens of Palácio Vila Flor in Guimarães as part of the 2012 European Capital of Culture program. Inspired by the concept of “aduelas” [the curved wooden pieces that form barrels], the performance reflects on fragility, reconstruction, and the tensions that arise in a world shaped by external influences and constant transformation.

In this project, I participated as a juggler, performer, and skater. Additionally, I contributed to the artistic development of the piece, working on integrating my role into an ensemble that explores themes of change, domination, and resilience.

Aduela is a piece that not only deconstructs the past but also raises questions about the present. With a stage defined by incomplete structures and symbolic elements, the performance weaves a narrative where each performer engages with their own story and the collective, creating a space for reflection and action.

This project has been an opportunity to explore how circus can transcend technique to become a language that connects ideas, emotions, and realities.
