CHÃO is a ground-based juggling project that explores the relationship between juggling balls and the floor. The project rethinks traditional juggling by embracing “letting the ball drop” as part of the creative process, rather than avoiding it. Through this exploration, we create visual patterns and interactions with objects on stage, transforming the act of dropping into an artistic tool.
I designed the website, composed the music, and acted as an external eye, offering creative feedback throughout the process. For the music, I worked with Ableton Live for composition and used LOM microphones like BASIC UCHO and GEOFON to record audio, integrating live performance elements into the soundscape. I also used the NONRS Reels script, a 4-track asynchronous looper, to add density to the soundtrack.
As a juggler, my background was key to shaping the sound design, understanding the rhythm and flow of the performance, and crafting a score that aligned with the movement and energy on stage.
