Circus Lab
1 month in Viseu

Circus Lab is a project led by the Norwegian company Circus Xanti and Teatro Viriato, aimed at bringing circus arts to rural communities around Viseu. Over the course of four weeks, this project transformed villages into spaces for artistic exploration and training, introducing circus disciplines to new audiences.

As part of this initiative, I participated as a trainer, leading sessions in the Red Tent, where participants experienced their first introduction to circus disciplines such as juggling, acrobatics, diabolo, and aerials. This space was designed to offer a practical and accessible entry point to circus, building a solid foundation for participants to develop their skills.

On Friday evenings, the Big Tent became a space for open training sessions, organized in collaboration with Erva Daninha. These sessions played a key role in consolidating the weekly training, fostering artistic exchange, and creating a dialogue between artists and the local community.

Circus Lab allowed me to contribute to the development of an artistic experience that combines practice, collaboration, and direct interaction with the community. It highlights the potential of circus arts to foster connections and provide opportunities for expression in diverse environments.
